Workout Recap and Chocolate 5K

Last week was a great gym week. I usually go Orangetheory, a HIIT workout class 3-4x a month but this month they started a new marathon challenge so I was extra-motivated. Throughout the month the goal is to run at least 26.2 miles  and at the end the person with the highest mileage will get a new pair of running sneakers. This isn’t super easy to accomplish because Orangetheory is set up where you run 25 minutes on the treadmill at different speeds (a base pace, a push pace and an all-out sprint) and then do rowing/weight lifting for the remainder of class.

My goal for the week was to run at least a 5k each day and I was really excited that I exceeded that!

Sunday: 3.35

Monday: 3.23

Tuesday: 3.56

Wednesday: 3.30

Thursday: 3.45

Friday: 3.25

I originally wanted to go everyday for the week but by Friday I was feeling tired so decided to take the weekend off. This week I’m planning on going 5 times and will be completing the marathon challenge late on today. Yes!

With each 5K I ran last week I realized just how fast I’ve become on the treadmill and am ready to take on another 5K. While searching for upcoming 5Ks (surprisingly I’m having a super hard time finding a Twin Cities 5K on the 4th of!) I came across The Chocolate 5K happening this Sunday. The Chocolate 5K will take place in St. Louis Park at Louisiana Oaks Park this Sunday at 8am. The course will be 3 loops with chocolate stops along the way. I really like with this race that it benefits the charity a website that helps teachers raise money for classroom supplies.

My goal for this race is to finish under 23 minutes. I’m a little nervous because this park can be pretty hilly so this might be a tough one to PR on, but I’ve surprised myself the past week with what I’m capable of on the treadmill so I have a feeling this will end up being a good race for me.
