…and so it begins. Marathon training is on! Today was the first day of my training (my plan runs Mondays – Sundays, with Monday and Friday rest days and long runs in Sunday) and man did it feel good to get back out there.
I don’t know what it is, but a training run and a fun run just feel so different to me. Maybe it’s knowing the goal, maybe it’s having a set amount of miles to run (or maybe I’m just crazy)…but it felt awesome.
It was dark, snowy and negative temps this morning, so training took place at my gym.
Today’s workout was a nice way to get back into training: warmup, 4 miles at a goal of 8:15-9min/miles, then 4 sprints followed by ab work.
After the run, I continued on for the 4 sprints – .06 sprint, .04 slow. It was tough, but it was nice to get in some speed work – I haven’t focused on that for a while. After my workout, Miguel made sure I got in a protein shake as we caught up on e-mails.
What a good trainer.
